A Jonathon Stone Mystery Short Story BY James Moushon

Operation Raging Bull

A Jonathon Stone Mystery Short Story

Author: James Moushon

An American traitor seeks refuge in a sanctuary city.

The FBI believes there is US troop information being leaked to rebels in Syria. After a special meeting in San Francisco, Jonathon Stone and Dale Oak, who is already undercover in Detroit, are assigned the operation.

The FBI is asking for D.O.T.’s help because of their problems dealing with sanctuary city policies in the area. As Stone narrows it down to one suspect, the operation unexpectedly expands.

Excerpt from Operation Raging Bull

San Francisco in September. What a great time of the year. I had just landed at San Francisco International and was headed downtown to the CIA headquarters. I had been summoned by my boss, Russ Evans, for a top-secret meeting in our West Coast main office. I had the cab window down enjoying the fresh air and marine layer stiffing through the backseat.

This was going to work out great. I would be early enough to talk to several of the agents who had worked with me in Long Beach. That seemed like years ago. The CIA D.O.T. division had an undercover operation set up there. We had a full-blown magazine business and I was one of the reporters. Actually, I was in charge. The cover gave me the ability to ask questions freely without showing a badge. Our domestic division was designed to avoid warrants and other legal hassles in the US.

Anyway, there I was passing through security and up to the eighth floor. I missed the group and the constant action but the Long Beach area had its perks too. Right upfront, I saw Debbie Rico, the greatest gatekeeper I ever worked with. She saw me get off the elevator and was around her desk waiting for me. I opened the glass door and she rushed toward me. We hugged each other for at least a minute which ended with a great big smooch on the cheer. She backed away and said, “Excuse me, sir. Do you have an appointment?”

We both laughed. Other people coming into work were staring at us. They had never seen this side of her, I was sure. I kept looking at faces for someone I knew. It had been over a year since I was here and the staff had sure changed. The phone was ringing. Debbie frowned. “Back to work. They are down the hall to the right. I think Wiley and Dale are already in the conference room.”

“I guess they have free donuts. I’ll try to touch bases later but I don’t know how long I’ll be here,” I said.

“I understand.”

A Note from Jonathon

My name is Jonathon Stone. Like a lot of single, All-American men I enjoy gambling, drinking, and the ladies.

I am a writer for Real Sportsman Magazine.

Being a writer is a realistic, workable cover but, in reality, I am a Special Agent for the CIA. I am assigned to the West Coast-based – Far East Operation Center located in San Francisco.

At one time our offices were in downtown Long Beach, CA. On the main floor was a complete magazine group with secretaries and a writing staff that produced a monthly hunting magazine.

In the basement of that office building was a full-blown CIA operation with security set up and computer center.

Eventually, our cover was blown, and the staff was scattered to the wind. My boss, Russ Evans, changed my status to At-Large and kept me in the Long Beach area. I live in Belmont Shore, if you want to be more specific.

I am what my fellow agents call an Asset-On-Call. I may just show up anywhere in the world.

As a footnote, we also handle the Domestic Operation - Terrorism (DOT) division. It was formed to handle terrorist threats inside the U.S. after DHS took control of intelligence.

This group is not on the Company’s organization chart.
